2025 / Protocol-based installation

Developed as part of Patrimoines Digestes, this protocol transforms the consultation of an archive into a regulated sequence of gestures performed by municipal staff.

Visitors may request access to one of two archive boxes, but only municipal staff are authorized to retrieve, open and handle the documents. The procedure involves a stepladder, white gloves and the careful presentation of each document before the archive is returned to its original position.

By assigning specific responsibilities to each participant, the protocol makes visible the conditions through which cultural heritage is accessed, preserved and transmitted.

The act of consultation becomes an activation of the artwork, in which institutional procedures and ordinary labour shape the visitor's experience.
